Damon's Contribution - Separate Peace between British and Japanese?
Okay, so Damon wrote a great bit of Darkstar “roleplaying” where he is sending the colonial administrator (and presumably local colonial garrison commander) of the Japanese Kishimoto colony a appeal to reason. This is great because it dovetails and aligns with the background for last week’s Kishimoto planetary assault game, brings in a bit of lore building / campaign ply / role playing to Darkstar (which I always support) and also allows us to bring up the question …
Is Duchess Annabel’s War coming to a close?
At least between the British and the Japanese?
Again, this campaign started locally, then went on line, we never had an official roster of players, so it’s definitely very informal. In more structured campaigns, actual “balance of power” points are tracked based on the size of aggregated battles and their results, it is clearly outlined when a certain power or faction either cashes out of a war as victor, or signs a separate peace as a loser.
Here, it’s really going to come down to player preference.
So I’ll put it to the community –
What factions do you still want to play, or see drop out of the war, or see added in to the war?
Currently: Duchess Annabel’s War is between two coalitions:
- “Iron Wolves”
- Imperial Prussia
- Japan
- New Roman Alliance
- Khitan-Tunguska Free State (Black Dragons)

Duchess Annabel’s Coalition:
- UK
- Holy Russian Empire
- Panasian Union (China)

Yeah @damon , between yourself (Battlegroup Bellerphoron), @gladesrunner (Cruiser Squadron “K”), @davehawes (Battlegroup Raven), maybe even @dignity (Battlegroup Coleraine)… I’m pretty sure the British are staying in. 😀
I concur with that assessment and back the hypothesis that the British are in this one for a while. All hail Britannia!

Internal IJN communication – scrambled level Purple
While answering “Nuts!” to an offer like this, is always my gut reaction.
Looking at it from an Astropolitical point of view, the cost have been high on the IJN, so for the remaining of Duchess Annabel’s War, we open communications with the British, before the Black Dragons stab us in the back again as the Merc-scum they are.

I’m sure we could work something liek this into a continuing campaign – a separate peace – the Japanese remain in the war against the Russians and Panasians, but not the British. (Gives me a chance to play my Lazarev Battlegroup again). 😀

I’m keen to jump in with some Prussian’s (They’re Growing on me with Their Big Guns) as soon as possible. Just waiting for the power to get hooked up (One or Two Weeks at this Point) in the Donga.
Epic, @elessar2590 – indeed, the Prussians have an appeal all their own. Carriers? Aerospace Craft? F*** all the “Wing Commander” bullsh**, gimme guns! BIG guns! And more GUNS ON TOP OF THAT! Tirpitz? Pfft, easy-peasy. What’s the Darkstar equivalent to a squadron of Lancasters with Tallboys?
Yeah, how many missions did that require, @damon ? But as we saw two weeks ago, some double-elite British bombers and fighters made a mess of things for some heavy Japanese warships. Thanks again for embarrassing me in a live game, @gladesrunner . 😀 😀 😀 On a more serious note, If you really wanted to recreate that in Darkstar, get together a stack of Excalibur-class gunboats and load them with hails of Class IV torpedoes.
