Dive Into A New Oldhammer Journal, Lead Rot, By 28 Mag

Another publication has been added to the growing list of journals, zines and magazines via the 28 community. If you're looking to get your fill of Oldhammer goodness then you can now dive into Lead Rot, a new journal that is free to download HERE.
Lead Rot - Autumn 2025 // 28 Mag
Featuring articles by Kari Hernesniemi, Mikko Luoma, Mark Owen and Alexander Winberg, you'll be able to dive into articles about classic miniatures and wargames from the Oldhammer era of Warhammer and beyond. I was particularly drawn to Alexander Winberg's piece on the old Middle-earth range by Games Workshop.
Classic Middle-earth // Lead Rot
Not only did Alex talk about the classic miniatures and getting them painted up for some new adventure but also the focus on fun and what the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game rules, with their modern mechanics, brought to the table. There's some great, atmospheric photography in there showing off the classic range.
There is also an article looking at bringing to life classic Space Marines in the colours of the Crimson Fists (timely)...
Oldhammer Space Marines // Lead Rot
...and as a fitting partner to that piece, Eadbangers looks at the Bad Moons Space Ork Raiders and what it's like painting them up for that face-off against the Crimson Fists!
'Eadbangers // Lead Rot
There is also a great article on restoring Oldhammer miniatures and giving them a new life as part of your collection plus a look at sculpting some old school Chaos Dwarfs that eventually made it into the Knightmare Miniatures collection. It's a great magnifying glass specifically on Oldhammer and what makes it such a fertile ground for hobby right now.
It all feels a bit more punk, less serious and generally more fun. There are less rules you "have" to follow and I like the creativity that bleeds out of Oldhammer content, both in miniature designs and rules.
If you're a fan of Oldhammer then I'd recommend downloading the Autumn 2025 Lead Rot and giving it a read on the loo on your next break!
