WW2 Romanian Reinforcements From Empress Miniatures
August 12, 2025 by brennon
Empress Miniatures introduced four new sets of 28mm metal miniatures to their Romanian World War II collection for use in your Historical wargames. These figures give you more specialised troops for your Romanian forces to use against the enemy.
Romanian Assault Unit // Empress Miniatures
We start with possibly my favourite of the new sets from Empress Miniatures. The Romanian Assault Unit gives you eight specialists who are going to be great for close-quarters assaults and long-range assassinations.
You get miniatures for a Sniper Team (including the spotter lying down), a Flamethrower, Stick Grenade Clusters and AT Mines. You also get those troops with their gas masks on, heading into some of the sweatiest fighting.
The sculpts are brilliant and would be equally good for some Pulp-style games as well as your classic World War II encounters on the tabletop. A solid set of figures for your skirmish games.
Romanian World War II Cavalry
Horses were still very much being used in World War II and the Romanians can get their hands on two sets from Empress Miniatures.

Romanian Cavalry Set 2 // Empress Miniatures
The Romanian Cavalry come with options for helmet or their furry hats alongside the option for tunics or greatcoats. As always, there's plenty of detail worked into their faces so that you get a sense of the characters behind the uniforms. There is some fabulous facial hair on display as well, which is always nice to see.
I also appreciate the fact that pretty much all of Empress Miniatures' figures are detailed but not busy. You can see lots of the kit and equipment that these soldiers would have been carrying but they're not laden down with nonsense that makes them a pain to paint.
Romanian Artillery
Capping things off, Empress Miniatures also released a new Artillery Crew for your Romanian army.
Romanian Artillery Crew // Empress Miniatures
This Artillery Crew can be used with any field gun or howitzer that you might have in your collection. Empress has shown them here with a German 105mm Howitzer that would have been used by the Romanians during World War II. A good example of where you might want to go when it comes to buying artillery for your own wargaming army.
It's always nice to see troops from some of the smaller nations available for World War II wargaming. Empress Miniatures does a lot of good work on that front and hopefully, this will get more folks diving in and trying out different forces from the period.
What do you make of the new Romanian releases?

Another absolutely cracking set of miniatures from Empress, that Artillery piece is excellent, and the mini with the binoculars is such a great sculpt!
