Modiphius Announce New DOOM Board Game Partnership

Modiphius last week announced that they are going to be teaming up with id and Bethesda on a brand new pair of board games set in the brutal and bloody Sci-Fi world of DOOM.

The focus of these two games, DOOM | Arena Board Game and DOOM: The Dark Ages | Arena Board Game, will be a fast-paced miniatures-based experience that plays, and I quote, "like heavy metal speed chess". The games will come in distinct flavours with the first based on the classic 1993 video game that started it all and the second focused on the most recent title in the franchise, DOOM: The Dark Ages.

Both games will use the same ruleset but will get bonus expansions that cover different enemies unique to the two video games. Resurrectionist Games are going to be the designer behind this, introducing you to a quick-to-learn competitive game where you take on the role of either the DOOM Slayer or the Demonic Hordes. Rip and tear your way across the battlefield using all manner of devastating weapons.

You'll dive into games that play out across three rounds, where the stakes rise between bouts! Blood will be spilt and soundtracks will make you deaf as you dive deeper and deeper into the DOOM experience.

I really liked the Fantasy Flight Games DOOM (2016) board game, so I will be interested to see what Modiphius and Ressurectionist do with these two arena-based games.
