It's no secret now that War Banner, the folks behind Gangs Of Rome, is working away on a game set in Ancient Greece. Whilst we're waiting on more information about that, however, we do get to see some more stunning sculpts by the talented hand of Stavros Zouliatis.

Ancient Greek Previews - War Banner

Here we can see that Zouliatis has been working away on a Veteran Archer, another Lochagos (Captain) and a Styrix (Musician). I love the look of the archer in particular, teeth gritted and in the middle of taking another shot at the approaching enemy.

The Lochagos is also in a very heroic pose, calling out a challenge to someone in front of him no doubt. With the inclusion of a Musician, I do wonder whether or not this is a hint towards the sort of game we might be seeing, focusing in on units of troops perhaps?

I'd personally like to see it stick to a skirmishing format as I don't think we've really seen many of those set during this Ancient period. The idea of warbands from the different Greek States clashing on the tabletop would be awesome, especially if they have a variety of different rules that focus in on their particular way of fighting.

What direction do you think they might go with this?
